So, the dawn of the Switch 2 is upon us. Coming out next month at the time of this article, many Nintendo and general gaming fans are excited for it. Not just for what new things the Switch 2 can provide, but also for the things it can bring back in the sense of revivals and remasters. While we have already covered Nintendo owned properties that could desperately use a revival or old fan favorites in need of a remaster, what about games that can use the Switch 2 as a way to come back into public consciousness or to simply find a new audience in modern day. While the games listed here don’t have to be Nintendo exclusive, it feels like the best way to announce these projects to the gaming majority. So hopefully future Nintendo Directs can accomplish some dreams.
- Banjo-Kazooie Remastered

Rare has had a very disappointing legacy in modern day with their most prominent game in recent years being Sea of Thieves. A game that received mixed reviews highlighting a repetitive gameplay loop that many players felt unsatisfied by. Overall, the acquisition made by Microsoft in the early 2000s is generally felt wasted that leaves many clamoring for a return to form for the studio. To kick off an era of the return of Rare, I suggest a fully remade, top to bottom, HD remaster of the original Banjo-Kazooie duology. With Microsoft playing nice with their competitors, in particular with Nintendo, it is not unlikely that they pull off a limited time exclusive on their XBOX consoles before shortly bringing it over to Switch 2. With Banjo-Kazooie being one of the most praised platformers of all time, not even just for its era, it’s a sure fire hit that Microsoft can bank off of and perhaps continue the franchise by following the footsteps of the remastered Crash Bandicoot games.
- Dino Crisis Remastered

Following in the footsteps of the well regarded and honestly game of the year quality Resident Evil remakes, there’s one franchise that many of CAPCOM’s fans are clamoring for and that’s the PS1 classic, Dino Crisis. Highly regarded in the horror game community taking many cues from the early Resident Evil games. So realistically it can come full circle by taking the same approach to the RE Remasters, particularly RE4, and overhauling the mechanics and gameplay features while keeping the atmosphere that original PS1 game is known for. Additionally, they could take more modern design cues for the dinosaurs to really make ’em pop in the game’s aesthetics. Also, overhauling and refining the story like the RE4 remake could also do wonders for it. Who knows, with all the buzz surrounding dinosaur media in the coming years with the likes of Jurassic World Rebirth and the theatrical adaptation of Primitive War, it could be prime time for CAPCOM to release a remaster of the standards they themselves have listed out.
- Marvel Ultimate Alliance Revival

Yes, I know about MUA 3, but unfortunately it’s locked to the Switch. However, this franchise holds so much potential and nostalgia from a time before the MCU, where characters like Iron Man and Daredevil were not as well known as they are now. A game that took the player to the far recesses of the Marvel Universe to cause total mayhem and super hero antics. With games like Marvel Rivals bringing back some of that energy and charm Ultimate Alliance was known for, there are many that desire that 2000s nostalgia and that bygone era of Marvel that are fond for. With the IP no longer being restricted to Activision, I truly believe that this game franchise can thrive in today’s climate, especially with Avengers: Doomsday looming over the MCU.
- Marvel vs CAPCOM Revival

Let’s face it, MvC Infinite was terrible and spat on the legacy MvC was built off of. No more 3v3, no mutants, no Fantastic Four, MCU synergy and just a terrible campaign in general, it was a disappointment to say the least and people were less than happy. With all the buzz Marvel is making in pop culture with the announcement of Avengers Doomsday, it could realistically stand for a new Marvel fighting game. It doesn’t have to be MvC, it can be another Marvel Super Heroes style game without the CAPCOM characters. Throw in an engaging story and fresh new mechanics and we have a hit that both comparative and casual fans can get behind. Maybe they’ll pull an Injustice and use the Street Fighter 6 engine to create the Marvel fighting game of our dreams.
Here’s the list! If you readers have any other suggestions for franchises in need of revival or remasters, let us know! We may just make another list for you guys. From all of us here at Happy Hobbyist, happy hobbying.
